The Mayor of Seattle, Bruce Harrell, announced that registration for the event is now open and people can sign up to participate. Volunteer activities include cleaning and beautification, gardening and restoration, and helping neighbors in need. There are over 100 partner organizations participating in the event and they represent a diverse group of public, private, and non-profit partners and organizations. Some of these organizations include El Centro de la Raza, FareStart, Chinatown-International District BIA, Belltown United, SODO BIA, Food Lifeline, Ballard Alliance, Seattle Sounders FC, and Seattle Seahawks.
Volunteering can also provide an opportunity to meet new people and make connections with others who share similar interests and values. Additionally, participating in can help volunteers develop new skills and gain valuable experience. In this event you may need to wear comfortable clothing and shoes that are appropriate for the type of service project you will be participating in. You may also need to bring water and snacks to stay hydrated and energized throughout the day. It’s also a good idea to check the weather forecast and dress accordingly.
The One Seattle Day of Service brings people together to work towards a common goal and make a positive impact on their community. By participating in service events, volunteers can help improve their neighborhoods and make a tangible difference in the lives of others. Mayor Harrell said that the event is a time to turn shared values of inclusion, unity, and cooperation into real action to drive improvements for the city.
